BEKOMOLD and Indeveyes Technologies’ manufacturing digitisation collaboration was a finalist in the 2025 Factory of the Year project competition. At the heart of the project was an OEE monitoring system installed on a fairly diverse set of CNC machines. The WaMeWo production monitoring platform was used for the development. The investment paid off in the first year and paves the way for further innovations in the future.
BEKOMOLD Szerszámgyártó Kft. is a member of the multinational BERICAP group of companies, headquartered in Germany. BERICAP Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of plastic caps. It has 25 factories in 21 countries worldwide, covering Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and North and South America. The Group’s manufacturing units are supported by three R&D centres to ensure continuous innovation.
The Group’s own tooling manufacturing plant, BEKOMOLD Ltd. in Budapest, produces the Group’s world-class injection moulding tools using state-of-the-art machining equipment and quality raw materials in a 4,000 m2 production facility, through the coordinated work of 39 machining centres.
To achieve the high quality standards required of a production facility, the company has set itself the goal of developing an online system that focuses on detailed production information, including
- measuring the efficiency of the machines,
- better monitoring of the technological times used,
- and better planning of product times.
Previously, very little data was available to the factory management on how much time a machine was running in the plant, and it was only possible to identify problems that caused losses in production in a subjective way.

In the first phase of the project with BEKOMOLD, the WaMeWo universal production monitoring solution was tested for the first time on two CNC machines to monitor the operating status of the equipment. As this proved to be a success, we went further with the extension and continued to extend the functionality and connect additional equipment.
For fully automated machine data collection, different controls from nearly 15 manufacturers had to be integrated into the platform.
Based on the objective data collected, it was possible to identify the sources of losses during production. It was possible to see the different performances between shifts on the same machines, and that automatic machines used to have a worse output during the night shift. These data have provided an opportunity to optimise work organisation and productivity, and targeted measures have been taken to balance out the performance differences. Transparency has increased significantly: performance data has become clearer, creating a more accountable work culture where there is no possibility of distorting information about a loss. This has contributed to increased efficiency as team leaders have received accurate feedback on the performance of their area.
The plant has achieved an increase of almost 8% in weekly availability in just a few months. The total project investment has paid for itself in less than a year.
The success of the project was also underlined by the fact that the purchase, installation and equipping of a new milling machine was not necessary to increase the volume. This not only improved cost efficiency but also resulted in a more sustainable operation. Further innovations have also been possible, such as the introduction of artificial intelligence-based analytics to enable even more accurate predictions and optimisation. Digitalisation has affected all production processes in the plant and can be extended to additional sites or even new business areas.
